Tennis Fleet

The Tennis Fleet's mission is to promote the sport of tennis and KYC camaraderie by organizing and conducting fun tennis tournaments and terrific social activities at a nominal cost.

The Tennis Fleet has been around almost as long as the Club itself. We have close to one hundred members, half of whom have retired from playing, but still participate in the social functions. Most of the Tennis Fleet members are active or retired sailors.

Every month the Tennis Fleet hosts a mixed doubles tournament. Everyone is welcome to enter with pairings decided by our tournament coordinators. Tournaments are followed in the evening with a dinner in the Longhouse. There are two special annual tournaments that are named after Yacht Club Alumnae. This year's Tom Collins tourney saw thirty-two players competing in over 30 full sets of tennis. All competitors were KYC members and members of the KYC Tennis Fleet. The event is named after a KYC member from many years back who epitomized good sportsmanship. Later in the year the Clare Lang mixed doubles tournament is held. It is named after the Clubs only female Commodore.

Every club member is invited to join the Tennis Fleet and we invite interested players to join us on Saturday and Sunday mornings for pick up play. It's a great time to meet the other players.
