Kaneohe Yacht Club

Deckhands

The Kaneohe Yacht Club Deckhand’s have a long history and here is just a small part of it.

The Kaneohe Yacht Club Women’s Auxiliary was formed on April 22, 1955. Later that year, in October the group was renamed the Deckhands. The Deckhands have always played an important role in assisting with KYC activities. Back in the 50’s the woman would come out for work parties, to help maintain the club.

Today there are fifteen members on the Deckhand Board of Directors and many Deckhand volunteers. The Deckhand’s operate a small logo store, called the Locker.  Profits from the Locker go towards planning, providing and funding parties for the children and grandchildren of KYC Members. Every year parties are planned for Easter, Halloween and Christmas.

The Deckhands have given many special gifts to the club over the years including: bar stools, silverware, wine cooler for the bar, trophy case and many others.

The Deckhands are also involved in many events at the club: Game Night, Opening Day, New Comers Pupu Party, Wounded Warriors Day on the Bay and something new, Finishers for the Thursday Night Bulkhead Races.
