Classboat Racing

Classboat racing at KYC currently comprises of two fleets: Cal-20's and I-14's. The classboat season starts in February and continues throughout the year through November. Some special days for racing are state championships and "wahine" regattas.

KYC's Cal 20 fleet is the most established and largest one design fleet in Hawaii and is often thought to be the most competitive. The fleet currently consists of 19 boats at this time with 12 to 13 Cal 20s actively racing. The I-14 fleet actively sees 4 to 5 boats out on the line each race day.

With the Classboat series, it's simple, first to finish the course and cross the line each race is the winner. It is typical to see a wide range of ages actively racing these regattas.
